Concert – Jazz y folclor guatemalteco juntos en un solo lenguaje con Otto Cano

 

Guatemalan trumpeter born in 1991. Started his musical studies at the age of 7 at the Conservatory of Music Germán Alcántara”, starting with piano and violin, being up until eleven years old that he began his studies as a trumpeter in the same institution. In the year of 2004 he interpreted the piece A trumpeters Lullaby” from the composer Leroy Anderson with the Juvenile Orchestra of the Conservatory. In 2006 he enters the school for music teachers Jesús María Alvarado” graduating from it in 2009. He has participated in international music camps such as JOCCA (Juvenile Orchestra and Choir of Central America) in 2012 and OJCA (Central American Juvenile Orchestra) in 2011 (Guatemala), in 2012 (El Salvador), in 2013 (Panama), in 2014 (Nicaragua-Guatemala) and 2015 (Honduras), being in the 2012 edition where he was recognized an honorary distinction in the metals section by the Venezuelan director Dietrich Paredes. He has also participated in master classes with world-renowned teachers: Otto Sauter, David Hickman, Luca Benucci, Alexis Morales among others, this within the festival METALURGIA” held in Costa Rica.

He is a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Guatemala since 2011. He has a closed degree in Music with a specialization in trumpet at the university Galileo”, trumpet teacher of the Conservatory of Music Germán Alcántara” Saturday plan from 2014 to 2015, trumpet teacher in Buhos Marching Band” and the Contemporary Music Academy Innato” since 2014. He graduated of the diploma in Jazz at the Academy Innato” in July of 2016. Guest musician of the nacional group El Tambor de la tribu” since 2012, trumpeter of the quintet Espíritu de Bronce” of which he is a founding member and collaborated in recordings and presentations with various musical groups among which are Tijuana Love, Imox Jazz, Fabiola Roudha among others.

Guest soloist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Guatemala in the years of  2017 and 2019 within the national season, where he performed the Haydn concert in Eb and the Hummel concert in Eb respectively. Organizer of the festival Guatebrass” in the last three editions, guest profesor of the International Trumpet Festival (FIT) organized in Costa Rica in 2017, where he performed a recital with the San Jose band and taught classes in the same institution. Guest coach of the National Center for the Arts (CENAR) in 2017 where he also performed a concert, and provided a session for technique and improvisation at the Costa Rican trumpet Academy in December of 2017 where he participated as well in the closure. Guest professor in the VI course of Consuegra (España) in 2019. Director and professor of the Guatemalan trumpet Academy (Academia Guatemalteca de Trompeta”).
