Michel Jacquot

French Touch, American Spirit 

Originally from Burgundy, France, Michel began studying the cornet at the  Municipal School of Music in Chalon-sur-Saône with Denis Sindt before  continuing his training at the city’s Conservatory under Philippe Merlin and later  Eric Planté. He graduated with a Conservatory Prize awarded unanimously with  the highest distinction from the jury. 

Eager to further refine his artistry, he moved to the Paris region to study with Marc  Geujon and later Alexis Demailly, while also joining the Paris Brass Band, with  whom he performed in numerous prestigious competitions and concerts. 

Admitted as the top-ranked candidate to the Pôle Supérieur d’Enseignement de la  Musique et de la Danse in Bordeaux, Michel pursued advanced studies in the  class of Franck Pulcini and also benefited from the guidance of Laurent Malet and  Jean-François Dion. 

Throughout his performing career, Michel has collaborated with a wide range of  distinguished ensembles and institutions, including the contemporary music  ensemble Proxima Centauri, the Abbaye aux Dames on period instruments, the  Sinfonia Pop Orchestra, and the French Air Force Band of Bordeaux. 

For two seasons, he served as Principal Trumpet of the Samsun State Opera in  Turkey, while also appearing regularly as a guest musician with the Istanbul State  Opera. 

Recently appointed Professor of Trumpet and Coordinator of the Brass  Department at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Dole in the  Jura region of eastern France, Michel continues to develop an active performing  career. Based near the Swiss border, he is also a member of the Orchestre  Symphonique de Mâcon and performs at the prestigious ceremonies of the  Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin at the Château du Clos de Vougeot. 

A prizewinner of two Chamber Music Awards in brass quintet formation, received  at the Open Cap Ferret and the International Leopold Competition, Michel also  represents France at various conferences of the International Trumpet Guild,  contributing to the promotion of the French trumpet tradition on the international  stage.
