Fruzsina Hara
Session: Pranayama for Performers
Fruzsina Hara was born into a musician family and started playing the trumpet at the age of 8 years. She completed her modern trumpet studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe where she was studying in the class of Prof. Reinhold Friedrich. She studied baroque trumpet with Prof. Edward H. Tarr in Karlsruhe, later at the Royal College of Music London as well as the Royal Conservatorium in Amsterdam.
Besides her awards at international trumpet competitions (such as the Maurice André competition in Paris or the Ellsworth Smith competition in the USA) she is better known as a baroque trumpet soloist with a repertoire of high and virtuoso trumpet concertos – for example she has recorded Michael Haydn’s D major concerto as part of the ’Serenata’ in its original 430 Hz pitch (released by Sony in 2017). She has performed Telemann’s 1st trumpet concerto at the Magdeburg Telemann Festival, the Richter trumpet concerto at the Franz Xaver Richter Festival in Holesov; she appeared as soloist at the Karlsuher Handelfestspiele, the Halle Handelfestspiele, the Mozartwoche Salzburg, the Salzburger Festspiele and many other festivals. To play Bach’s 2nd Brandenburg concerto, she has traveled to Hong-Kong, New York, Lisbon, Lausanne and Athens.
Fruzsina has been the solo trumpet player of many baroque ensembles and chamber orchestras, such as the Swiss Camerata Bern since 2007, the French Les Musiciens du Louvre since 2010, the Belgian B’Rock Gent from 2014 to 2021, and the Holland Baroque Society as well as the Irish Baroque Orchestra since 2018. Besides, she has been working regularly with the Russian MusicAeterna, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Armonia Athenea, the Wroclaw Baroque Ensemble, and the Netherlands Bach Society, where she took part in the DVD series “AllofBach”.
Since 2024, she has been a docent for baroque trumpet at the Musikhochschule Detmold.
Besides her musical career, she is a master of the Tibetan healing technique ’Prananadi’ and regularly gives courses on yoga breathing (Pranayama).
