The DiMartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra, led by trumpeter Vince DiMartino and Miles Osland, soprano, alto saxophones and flute, is symbolic of the many high-quality first-class big bands that exist across the United States. Based in Kentucky and a fixture in Central Kentucky, this 16-piece group has superior musicianship evident in their big band orchestrations and superb solos sure to please fans of modern swinging big bands. From energetic jumping arrangements to soulful emotional ballads, their repertoire includes select standards, some familiar, others less so, but all magical.

 

Vince DiMartino is the Matton Professor Music at Centre College (Emeritus). One of America’s leading trumpet performers and teachers, DiMartino has been a member of the artist faculty of many international seminars and courses. DiMartino has performed worldwide as a soloist and with artists such as Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Pearl Bailey, Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Brubeck. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, DiMartino was the Alumni Distinguished Professor of Trumpet at the University of Kentucky for over twenty years.

 

Miles Osland has distinguished himself as an educator, recording and performing artist, author, arranger and composer. Currently the Director of Jazz Studies and Professor of Saxophone at the University of Kentucky, he has appeared throughout North and South America and Europe as a guest conductor, performer and clinician. Nine of his recordings, including Saxercise and My Old Kentucky Home, have been submitted for Grammy nominations by Sea Breeze Jazz Records, one of the most respected labels in jazz. Professor Osland holds a Master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music.
