Eric Millard

Shared Recital

Eric Millard is the Associate Professor of Trumpet at UNC Charlotte and the  founder/director of the Charlotte Youth Trumpet Ensemble. Millard has held positions with the  South Carolina Philharmonic and Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with  the Charlotte Symphony. Millard has also performed with ensembles across the country, such as  the Charlotte Ballet, Opera Carolina, Boise Philharmonic, Ballet Idaho, Pensacola Symphony, and  Sinfonia Gulf Coast. 

A founding member of the Palisade Trumpet Collective, Millard has commissioned and  performed new works for trumpet ensemble across the globe. As a soloist, Millard has won prizes  at prestigious competitions such as the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Solo Competition,  National Trumpet Competition, King’s Peak International Music Competition, The American  Prize Solo Competition, and the Music Teachers National Association Solo Competition. 

Millard received his Doctorate and Master’s Degrees in Trumpet Performance from Florida  State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the University  of Kentucky. Millard’s primary instructors were Dr. Christopher Moore, Vince DiMartino, Robert  Sullivan, Mark Clodfelter, and Dr. William Stowman. Dr. Millard also serves as the Rules  Coordinator for the National Trumpet Competition and previously served as the Book Review  Column Editor and Conference Stage Manager for the International Trumpet Guild.
