Hayato Kodama is a young Japanese trumpet prodigy from Kushiro, Hokkaido. He started playing the cornet when he was 5 years old when he received it as a Christmas present. Inspired by the performances of French trumpeter André Henri, he decided to pursue a career as a trumpeter.
Since elementary school, Hayato has participated in numerous competitions and won first place in all prestigious events, such as:
- JAPAN Junior Wind Percussion Competition
- JAPAN Classical Music Competition
- SHIMODA International Music Competition
- OSAKA International Music Competition
- JAPAN Wind and Percussion Competition
In 2022, he made his solo debut recital at Ginza YAMAHA Hall in Tokyo, receiving high praise for his performance.
Hayato studied trumpet with Professor Tsugufumi Matsuda, a former member of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and Kenichi Tsujimoto of the Yomiuri Japan Symphony Orchestra. In addition, master classes by Sergei Nakariakov, I took online lessons with prominent trumpeters such as Gabor Tarkovi and Christopher Martin. Currently enrolled in the pre-college of the University of Music in Karlsruhe, Germany, with Reinhold Friedrich and Jeroen Berwaerts.
Hayato actively shares his performances and practice sessions on social media, attracting attention from audiences worldwide. His remarkable talent continues to impress musicians and trumpet enthusiasts globally.
He is regarded as one of the most promising young trumpet players of his generation.
In February 2025, he released his first album “Reverberate“
