Tom Zoubek is a professional archaeologist from Connecticut. He began his trumpet journey in his sophomore year of high school and continued playing through college. Upon beginning his graduate studies in Archaeology at Yale, he stopped playing entirely. He spent most of the ‘90s directing digs in Peru. He began teaching in private schools in 1999 and has spent his career there.
In 2010, Tom was asked to play 2nd tpt in the pit for a production of The Wiz. There he rediscovered his love of the trumpet. He began formal studies with Richard Clymer at SUNY-Purchase. That year he joined the Stratford Community Concert Band, ironically directed by his high school band teacher. He has participated in Trumpet Workshops at Eastman, Oberlin and the University of Kentucky.
In 2012, Tom joined the Westport Community Band as a first trumpet and in 2014 he joined the CT Symphonic Winds. Tom has played principal trumpet with the Winds and has performed as a soloist with the other groups. He is currently lead trumpet of the Generations Brass Quintet and also soloist at the Grace Methodist Church in Fairfield, CT.
