Finding a Voice: My Journey Through Severe Lip Injury and Addiction

Austin-based Grammy® nominated Singer, Trumpeter and Keyboardist, Michael Hawes enjoys a multifaceted career. Comfortable as a vocal and trumpet soloist, a member of a vocal ensemble, choir, or in the trumpet section of a symphony orchestra, wind ensemble or brass quintet, his passion lies in collaboration and heartfelt performances of meaningful music. Michael frequently sings and plays with Grammy® winning Crossing Choir and Conspirare among many others.

A former member of Axiom Brass, with whom he recorded two albums. Michael has performed with the Detroit Symphony, Chicago’s Music of the Baroque Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony and the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan. Currently pursuing his Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Texas, Michael is in the midst of releasing an album of music by Florence Price, much of it never before recorded, for voice, piano and brass.
