Matthew Kim

Session: Music For Trumpet, Violin, and Piano

Most recently awarded the silver medal for Outstanding Achievement in the 2018 Global Music Awards, Matthew Kim, a sponsored artist by the Korea Total Economic Institute, is currently active as a trumpet soloist and clinician on an international level. As a piccolo trumpet specialist, his most recent highlights include performances and clinics in Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.S, performing under contract with the Tool Music Management in South Korea.

Trumpeter Matthew Kim has performed in major venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Charles W. Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.

Matthew was a prize winner of numerous competitions including the American Protégé International Professional Concerto Competition, the Music Association Korea National Competition, the Music Association Korea National Competition, Seoul National University Wind Competition, He is also a two-time semi-finalist in the U.S National Trumpet Competition.

As an orchestral performer, he was the principal trumpet of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra in Dallas, TX and principal trumpet of the Oklahoma Civic Orchestra in Norman, OK. He was also selected as a musician of the prestigious Tongyeong International Music Festival Orchestra.

Matthew received his Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory. He is former faculty at the Manhattan Arts Center in Kansas. He is currently Artist in Residence at Hope International University in California. His principal teachers include Dr. Karl Sievers, Nathaniel Mayfield, Wayne Cameron.
