Thomas Reiner
Concert
Thomas Reiner was born in Ludwigsburg in 1969. At the age of twelve, he met Maurice André at a concert and decided there and then to learn the trumpet. Two of his most influential teachers at the conservatories in Würzburg, Leipzig and Weimar were Professors Helmut Erb and Uwe Komischke. Currently, Thomas Reiner is active worldwide as a soloist and university lecturer.
His brilliant and light tone in the high register predestines him for the performance of particularly exposed trumpet parts. His albums have been released on the Naxos label and these recordings have met with great international acclaim and excellent reviews. Radio stations such as SWR, BBC Radio and Radio New Zealand regularly broadcast his recordings. Thomas Reiner plays exclusively on trumpets made by the American manufacturer Schilke.
“His tone is balanced in all areas and his lines are elastic and precise, whereby the modern piccolo trumpet allows him to perform even high trumpet parts easily and springily.” (Rondo Magazine).
In 2011 he was honored to be invited by the International Trumpet Guild as the only German trumpet player to the conference in Minneapolis to perform in front of professional audiences from all over the world. In 2013 he gave two concerts at the international VG Brass Festival in Zagreb. In 2021 and 2023 his path took him to Venice for new CD recordings with the famous “Interpreti Veneziani”. In 2024 he accepted an invitation to the “Trumpet Days” in Linköping (Sweden) to give master classes on the subject of the piccolo trumpet.
