T.J. TESH
American Music Recital
Dr. T.J. Tesh is an Associate Professor of Trumpet and the Associate Director for Student Services and Operations at The University of Southern Mississippi. He also serves as Treasurer for the International Trumpet Guild. After a successful career as a freelance trumpeter and music educator in the Los Angeles area, T.J. moved to Mississippi in 2016. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Pickett Blackburn Artist, with a diverse performance background that includes sharing the stage with music legends like Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Patti Austin, Take 6, Quincy Jones, Dave Koz, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, and many others.
Since 2017, Dr. Tesh has been performing and recording across the U.S. and Canada as a member of Alias Brass, a group of five uniquely skilled artists and educators. Before relocating from Los Angeles, he recorded and toured with the internationally acclaimed brass quintet Presidio Brass and held the position of Principal Trumpet in the first national tour of Mel Brooks’ The Producers.
