Masterclass
Neeme Ots studied trumpet from the age of six in the class of his father, Aavo Ots, at the Tallinn Music High School and later continued his studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under Pertti Kulku, Touko Lundell, and Simo Rantanen. Through the ERASMUS program, he studied in 2012-13 at the Madrid Royal Conservatory with Prof. Enrique Rioja. He perfected his skills in numerous masterclasses, i.e., with M. André, R. Friedrich, G. Cassone, A. Delgado, J. Bolšijanov, J. Gansh, and A. Plog.
Neeme currently teaches at the Tallinn School of Music and Ballet, Tallinn Music School, and Viimsi Music School and has recently given trumpet masterclasses in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, and Croatia.
He regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Estonia and abroad. As a soloist, he has appeared with Kremerata Baltica, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Narva City Symphony Orchestra, and several Estonian wind ensembles.
Neeme has won several prizes in national and international competitions.
He has close collaboration with organist Tiia Tenno and accordionist Henn Rebane; with them, Neeme has recorded two CDs, “Baroque Pictures “(2015) and “Kiirteel (2023).
Neeme is the artistic director of The International Trumpet Days and competition Trumpet Talents Tallinn and Võru Brass Days (Võru Vaskpillipäevad), organizing several other festivals and masterclasses in Estonia.
He has also collaborated with the Spanish National Orchestra, European Royal Ensemble, Orquesta y Coro Filarmonia de Madrid, Estonian National Opera, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, a.o, collaborating with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Kristjan Järvi, Fabio Luisi, Juanjo Mena, and others.
Neeme is an artist of the Pille Lill Music Trust Fund.
