5pa’l mundo

Concert – Fusión de colores y texturas desde Manizales, Colombia.

The  5pa’l mundo Project was created in 2017 by Oscar Fernando Trujillo in his effort to compile, in a chamber format, his composer work, fostering  a research environment and developing a new Colombian music repertoire on the world’s music genre.

The group is formed by professors from the University of Caldas and artists of renowned trajectory, with experience in various fields of the musical expression, from jazz to latin music and even symphonic displays. It is this very convergence of experiences that gives the project its sound identity.

On April 2018, 5pa’l mundo launched their first record production. They Have played concerts in the most important festivals in Colombia, achieving significant awards and recognition. In 2019 the ensemble carried out its first international tour, including a concert at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona.

5pa’l mundo   is currently preparing the release of the second discographic work.

OSCAR FERNANDO TRUJILLO GÓMEZ (Trumpet – direction)

Bachelor of Music (University of Caldas) Colombia and Master of Music in trumpet (EAFIT) Colombia. Trumpet player, composer and conductor.

began his studies in the Departmental Program of Bands of Caldas. He has participated in master classes  in Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Brazil. Awarded by the Mazda Foundation for Art and Science.

His compositions have been awarded in in the National Contest of Bands of Paipa (2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2020), National Contest of Bands Pedro Ignacio Perilla (Anapoima-2014),

Ramón Jaramillo Jurado National Contest of Bands (Rionegro-2015), National Contest of Unpublished Music for Band (San Pedro – 2017), Festival of Colombian Andean Music Mono Núñez (2018).

His arrangements and compositions have been performed by the National Symphonic Orchestra of Cuba, Zaragoza Wind Ensemble, Dominican Philharmonic Orchestra, Salvador Youth Symphony Orchestra, Orléans Symphony Orchestra, University of Wisconsin Symphony Band, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Toto la Momposina, Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, Caldas Symphony Orchestra, among others.

He was a member of the Kanna Jazz Brass ensemble recording two discographic works and also winner of the National Festival of the Hall. Mr. Trujillo was Semifinalist in the II Eric Aubier Latin American Trumpet Competition.

He has been a Trumpet Professor at the Technological University of Pereira and principal trumpet of the Caldas Symphony Orchestra for 15 years.

In 2019 he made a tour in Europe with his group 5 pa´l mundo that included a recital at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, the concert program was totally composed by himself.

As Conductor, he has performed with the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, Manizales Municipal Band, Caldas University Symphonic Band, Caldas University Brass Ensemble (group founded by him) and Redentorista Conservatory Symphonic Band (which is currently directed by him).

He has performed as soloist with the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, CIMA International Music Festival, Manizales Municipal Band, Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, Caldas Chamber Orchestra, Caldas University Symphonic Band, Manizales International Music Festival, among others.

He is currently trumpet professor at the University of Caldas, director and founder of the Redentorista Conservatory and director of the ensemble 5pa´l mundo with which he made a discographic production with 8 works of his own. In addition, he continuously collaborates in various musical training processes in different regions of the country and Latin America.

JAIRO CIFUENTES (Clarinet)

Jairo began his musical studies at the Junior Band of Bolivia, Caldas under the tutelage of Holver M. Cardona y Carlos J. Gallego. Later on, he moved to Manizales where he belonged to the Municipal Band (2001 – 2006)

In 2016 he received his MMus Cum Laude from Roeland Hendrikx at the Maastricht Conservtory (HOL) for his exceptional performance as clarinet player.

Music BA from the University of Caldas, clarinet player at Caldas’ Symphonic Orchestra since 2004 member of Clarinet Quartet Clarinnova since 2003 with which he has won several Colombian music contests.

Winner at the 2009 Young Solo Performers from Cali’s Philharmonic. He has performed as a solo artist for Cali’s Philharmonic, EAFIT’s Symphonic and Caldas’ Symphonic Orchestras. He has also participated as a member of: Belgium’s National Orchestra, Holland’s Symfonieorkest Conservatoria BKM, Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), Santa Catarina’s Festival Symphonic Orchestra and the Caracas Youth Symphonic Orchestra.

Has attained faculty positions at YOA’s leadership program, Batuta Caldas Foundation, University of Caldas and Manizales’ Redentorista Conservatory.

In 2017 he was invited as a professor to the Otún Clarinet Fest, Pereira.

He has attended master classes with: , Deyvis Betancourt, Javier Vinasco, Valdemar, Gregory Parra, Ivan Petruzziello, Robert De gennaro, Cristiano Alves,  Ovanir Buosi, Philippe Berrod, James Campbell, Michael Webster, Ralph Manno, Olivier Patey.

SAMUEL MUÑOZ (Keyboards) 

Music BA from the University of Caldas.

Samuel has played back-up keyboards for chamber, classical, folklore, commercial and jazz groups. With training in classical and jazz keyboards with internationally renowned masters.

Professor of Functional Keyboards and Back-up Pianist at the University of Caldas.

Currently pursuing his MMus at EAFIT University in Medellin.

LEONEL MAURICIO OSORIO GARCÍA (Bass) 

Leonel started studying guitar under his father’s guidance at the age of 10, then 5 years later he began his self-taught endeavors in the field of bass and electric guitar.

His passion for music has taken him to develop his abilities by means of discipline and research. He has played with several music groups from genres such as vallenato, afro-Cuban, reggae, jazz, rock and Colombian music.

URIEL ANDRES MARIN REYES (Drums)  

Music BA from the University of Caldas, Post-graduate studies in Modern Music/Drums and Percussion from Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, Barcelona.

MMus from EAFIT University in Medellin.

Advanced percussion courses at Simón Bolívar Music Conservatory in Caracas.

Currently  performing as professor in percussions at the Technological University of Pereira, latin  and symphonic percussions professor at the University of Caldas.

Former drummer at: La Tribu Big Band, Walking Jazz big band, Manizales infusión, Ensamble Ecco, Kanna Jazz Brass. With multiple national awards in Colombian music and participation in several international jazz festivals. He has taken part in a number of recording projects. Currntly performing as drummer and main percussionist for the Caldas’ Symphonic Orchestra.
