New Works

The 49th Annual International Trumpet Guild Conference
Salt Lake City, UT

The ITG New Works Committee would like to invite composers and performers to submit compositions for the New Works Recitals at the 2025 ITG Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah (May 27th – May 31st, 2025). Submissions will be accepted through August 31, 2024.

To be considered, works must feature trumpet in a prominent role as soloist or co-soloist and be appropriate for a recital setting. To allow for a wide range of possibilities, this call does not specify instrumentation, but please note that compositions of unusual duration or instrumentation may face extra-musical hurdles if selected by the New Works Committee. To be eligible, submissions must have been composed within five years of the above submission deadline and should be un-premiered or have received only limited exposure.

Compositions may be submitted by a composer individually or by a trumpeter in partnership with a composer. If you are submitting multiple works, please submit each work separately. To involve as many individuals as possible, composers can only have one work performed each year, and performers can only perform one selection each year. Please note that all performers appear at the artistic discretion of the ITG New Works Committee. If submitted by a composer alone, the ITG New Works Committee will select a trumpeter for the chosen work.

Inclusion of a work on a New Works Recital does not imply any financial obligation of the ITG, beyond providing a collaborative pianist to perform. Works calling for instruments other than or in addition to piano will require that the composer/performer supply those additional performers. Selected trumpeters are required to register for the conference and are responsible for all costs, including registration. Works will be reviewed by the New Works Committee, and all applicants will be notified of the results by October 1, 2024.

Submissions will no longer be accepted via email. To be eligible, a PDF of the score, an unedited recording, or a MIDI file in mp3 format must be submitted. If you have any questions, please contact Huw Morgan, Chair of New Works, at newworks@trumpetguild.org
